Dr. Hines-Gaither is an experienced and outstanding diversity, equity, and inclusion practitioner and scholar. I have the deepest admiration for how she delivers difficult, uncomfortable, but crucial conversations in such a way that creates a Brave Space environment for all. She speaks truth to her work and creates spaces for others to speak their truths. I am honored and privileged to call her a colleague and friend. I gained a lot of insight and patience from watching the seminar of Dr. Hines-Gaither [on Navigating Difficult Dialogues]. Working in a minority based high school as a non-minority teacher, it is often assumed that I am prejudiced before opening my month. Dr. Hines-Gaither encourages us all to continue to be open to dialogue and humility as we deal with difficult issues in our school environment, as well as giving practical examples to apply the material she shares. She shares ways to give everyone a voice in the discussion and a vocabulary that is less intimidating for all.
